Fall Classic Final Game Draws 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extra-inning contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a aggregate over 50 million watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball announced this marks the most-watched Fall Classic finale since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th position.

International Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete American average was 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
